We deserve transparency and representation no matter where we come from on the political spectrum. We deserve accountability. For too long, hands have been passed bribes and lobbies have influenced official policy. Often to the betterment of a corporate entity. Our news media is complicit in this as well. They report on things that spin the narrative to protect the corporations. Then don’t report on things the public should know about. At the same time sensationalizing stories that distract and divide us. Why would they do this, you might ask? Well; the corporations own the media. Individuals and corporations will, with large cashflow, pump money into the news so that you see what they want. Larry Ellison being the prime example of this. Acquiring Paramount Global (CBS, Paramount Pictures, Pluto TV), potentially Warner Brothers Discovery (HBO, CNN, DC Comics). Ellison is also involved in a key role at U.S. based TikTok via Oracle. See the problem? One man owns news, traditional studios, and social media. We need to demand that legacy media stand up to the corporate oligarchs and demand change. Either that or they go extinct. This is a new age of media. Journalists reporting the facts. The way it should have been from the beginning. Protect freedom of the press.
From the U.S. Department of Labor, a message: “One homeland, one people, one heritage. Remember who you are, American.” -pbs.org
Then there’s this tweet from Friday, an ICE recruitment ad featuring the turn of phrase “We will have our home again” plastered over an image of a man on horseback and a stealth bomber flying in the distance. That’s a reference to the song “We’ll Have Our Home Again,” a white supremacist anthem favored by the Proud Boys. -pbs.org
I wanted to write about this further and explore where some of these phrases hail from, who says them, and the ideology behind them. I don’t have to because everyone already knows, but I’m going to anyhow because I believe regular working class Americans should know what their government is signaling here. These phrases; while just words, have very specific meanings and distinct origins.
1. “We will have our home again”- Referenced from “We’ll Have Our Home Again,” a white supremacist anthem favored by the Proud Boys. A song attributed to the group named The Pine Tree Riots.
The song “We’ll Have Our Home Again” was released by the Pine Tree Riots on YouTube, Spotify and other streaming platforms in 2020. Other songs that the group has produced include one with the lyrics, “Well, another Charlottesville wouldn’t do us any harm,” an apparent reference to the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Klansmen, neo-Nazis, racist skinheads and other white supremacists clashed with protesters, and one extremist murdered an antiracist activist. 2. “One Homeland. One People. One Heritage. Remember who you are, American.” – As posted by the United States Department of Labor Saturday. The slogan “Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer” translates to “One People, One Country, One Leader.” It was “one of the central slogans used by Hitler and the Nazi Party,” according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. (southern poverty law splcenter.org) The Labor Party being the first organizations the Nazis took over. So the Labor Party under Hitler was the Nazi Party. Still think the social media posting’s origin is random? I don’t.
This statement is a falsehood anyway as America is made of people from all over the world. Affectionately nicknamed The World’s Melting Pot.
These phrases as shown in the linked article are among many we have seen and heard, signaling from other public figures such as the world’s first trillionaire Elon Musk with his controversial salute. I think the fact that he is the world’s first trillionaire is disturbing as well. Why does anyone need that much money? How would you possibly spend it all? Regardless, these sentiments from both are unacceptable and shameful. Our racial bias is directly tied to our identity. Engrained from a young age from our environment, our peers, family, friends, colleagues. They learn it because they are propagandized. Mainly from television and media. America being the most propagandized nation on earth. That is both terrifying and surreal to most of us. However, in most countries when learning about America; the first course they learn is propaganda. I don’t care what political affiliation you have, consider this when your racial bias starts to show. It may change the way you feel about things.
Discussion: First there was the assassination attempt. Striking resemblance to another historic assassination attempt on Hitler. Same stance, amount of agents, their geographic positions. That was a weird one, right? Was this the point we knew but felt that there was no way he could win again? But then he did. I personally was not surprised. I could see his second term coming a mile away. Not only that, but I knew after the attempt 100%. I believe it was staged. Interesting point to note; ten years ago claiming something was staged would get you labeled a conspiracy theorist or crazy. Now it’s commonplace, BECAUSE IT HAPPENS SO MUCH. Then after the election we see ICE being utilized in a way they had not been before. Then we are killing and kidnapping us citizens and non in the streets, out of cars. When is enough, enough? When do we stand and fight in the face of ICE? When do we shed blood? America is teeter tottering on the brink of collapse. We did not act when the beast reared its head. Now we face the consequences.
